How do I set up an initial appointment?
You can set up an initial appointment by directly e-mailing the therapist who's bio you feel meets your need, or you can e-mail the director, Cara Sanders, at cara@healingrockia.com
How long does a typical therapy session last?
All therapy appointments, including the intake session, typically last 50-55 minutes.
Is my therapist available 24/7 via phone call for emergencies?
No. Healing Rock Counseling providers are outpatient mental health therapists and are not available in the event of an after-hours emergency. You should contact 911 or go to your nearest emergency room in the event of a mental health emergency. The crisis text line can be reached by texting 741741 and the suicide hotline can be reached by dialing 988.
Do you bill insurance?
If your therapist is in-network with your insurance carrier, your sessions will be billed directly to your insurance. Our billing coordinator, Callie Morrow, will assist in processing these claims and collecting payment from the insurance company and the client for their portion owed.
Why am I required to keep a debit/credit/HSA card on file?
Healing Rock Counseling requires all clients to keep a card on file in order to remain in good standing on their payments due. We use the card on file only at the time of service. Clients are responsible for paying their copays, co-insurance, or deductible amounts at the time of service. The card on file will also be used in the event of a late-cancel or no show of a scheduled appointment. This fee is $75. In the event that a larger balance has accrued, our billing coordinator will reach out to the client to establish a payment plan if needed.
Why does Healing Rock Counseling charge a no-show or late-cancel fee?
Healing Rock Counseling charges a fee of $75 for every appointment cancelled less than 24 hours before the scheduled appointment and/or if the appointment is no-showed and not contact was made to the therapist. Exceptions are considered on a case-by-case basis and are done so at the discretion of the individual therapist. This fee is charged because your appointment time is held for you and that time cannot be billed to insurance if the appointment is cancelled or not held. 24 hours notice allows the therapist more time to fill that time-slot with another client.
Does Healing Rock Counseling do substance abuse assessments?
There are two providers at Healing Rock Counseling that can do substance abuse assessments if they have openings. Healing Rock Counseling does NOT provide substance abuse assessments for the Iowa DOT or when required by law through court-order for an OWI/DUI.
