Cara Sanders, MS, NCC, LMHC, CADC

Cara Sanders is the owner of Healing Rock Counseling. She is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, a Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor and a Nationally Certified Counselor. She has 14 years of experience working with both mental health and substance use disorders.

She obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from Iowa State University, majoring in criminal justice and sociology, and minoring in psychology. She received her Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Drake University in Des Moines.

She is trained in Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and has training in several other trauma-focused treatment modalities.

Cara has experience in working with all ages, but specializes in working with teens and young adults. She has several years of experience working with first responders, military members, and their families. She is passionate about serving those who serve.

She is passionate about helping people begin their journey towards healing and self-empowerment regardless of circumstances. She truly believes that her clients are the experts in their own lives and have what it takes to unlock their own potential.

When Cara is not at Healing Rock, she can be found playing with her dogs, George and Millie, spending time with friends and family, exercising, cheering on the Cyclones, listening to music, and trying new pizza places.
