Josh Vander Zwaag, LISW
As a mental health therapist and former police officer, I bring over 15 years of combined experience in law enforcement and clinical counseling, giving me a unique perspective on life’s challenges. My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where clients feel comfortable exploring their experiences, fostering growth, and finding healing. I meet clients where they are, understanding that each person’s path is different. I’m dedicated to promoting the mental well-being of individuals, families, teens (16+), college students, first responders, military and veterans.
I take a person-centered approach, using evidence-based methods like CBT, DBT, solution-focused therapy, and motivational interviewing. By tailoring treatment to each client, I provide a supportive space to build coping skills, improve relationships, and foster growth. My goal is to help clients face life’s challenges head on with confidence and resilience.
I am trained in EMDR, a trauma-informed technique that helps clients process and heal from distressing memories, trauma, and emotional challenges. I also have training in individual and group crisis intervention through the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation, Inc., equipping me to provide support during times of acute stress and crisis.
